The Super Power of Dough!

I’m not kidding! I can’t believe all the amazing and beautiful creations I have made using four simple ingredients! Four ingredients- flour, yeast, salt and water! Really, that’s it!

I don’t know why, but I have always complicated breadmaking. I bought a bread machine when I heard the craze of breadmaking during the height of the pandemic- fail!! The bread just didn’t pass the test. It was tough and hard and just… no. I think it was the machine- I was not part of the process.

And the bread was more like a rock than I’d like to admit or remember!

Then there was the trial of sourdough. Again… no. I can’t remember to feed and turn and separate- sometimes it’s the last thing I want to do! Life gets busy, and I get tired and sometimes totally uninspired. No to the sourdough mother. I could say more, but we’ll leave it at no!

Then I started seeing all the bread on Instagram… and I tried recipes and followed a few bread artists who were so kind to share their recipes and techniques and took a few classes online… I’m a fan, a big fan.

Simple, straightforward dough- those four ingredients. Mix it with a fork and let it rise for 8 hours in a quiet corner of your kitchen… or in your refrigerator for DAYS. You grab it and do a quick four folds and voila… bread, pretzels, focaccia, pizza dough, stromboli. Your superhero can come out and I’m telling you- it’s fresh, delicious and NO PRESERVATIVES or unwanted additives. And again, YOU DID THIS! Everyone in your house will be drawn to the smell as it bakes- and then will be amazed at the creation they taste.

Your new superpower- dough. It’s a blank slate. You can create so many options when you have this in your fridge or freezer- or on your kitchen counter. No fussing. No kneading (for now).
